Jodie Turner-Smith in advanced talks to join Disney+’s Star Wars series The Acolyte

Hollywood actress Jodie Turner-Smith is poised to join Amandla Stenberg in Disney+’s Star Wars series The Acolyte, a mystery-thriller from Leslye Headland.

According to Deadline, The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era, Disney+ said in its December 2020 announcement. In the Star Wars universe, an acolyte can refer to individuals with force abilities who learn from a more experienced Sith Lord.

Details regarding the characters of the series have been kept under wraps. The series is expected to begin production in London in late fall. Stenberg was officially cast as the lead in July. Headland will serve as executive producer, writer and showrunner on the series which currently has no premiere date.

On the work front, Jodie Turner-Smith is known for her roles films like Queen & Slim and After Yang. She marke her TV debut on True Blood and went on to recur on TNT’s The Last Ship and Syfy’s Nightflyers. She also played the title role in the British miniseries Anne Boleyn. She will next be seen in White Noise, Netflix’s Murder Mystery 2 and Apple TV+ series Bad Monkey.
