Music composer DSP gets accused of hurting Hindu sentiments; Karate Kalyani files police complaint against him

Rockstar DSP has recently been bagging some of the most coveted projects in Indian cinema after the grand success of Pushpa. He got trapped in a legal controversy. The musician released a single titled ‘Pari’ in multiple languages recently. The song has now come under the radar as it has been alleged of hurting Hindu sentiments. Actress Karate Kalyani has filed a police case against the song accusing Devi Sri Prasad of hurting religious sentiments and a case has been registered against the popular music composer.

The song ‘Pari’ features women in short clothes and it hasn’t gone down well with many and they have accused the musician of hurting religious sentiments with the music track. In a statement given by Karate Kalyani, she asserted the reason behind her taking this step adding, “The person, who was the musician for item songs such as ‘Oo Antava Oo Oo Antava’, has now come out with such a release which shows scantily clad women, women in bikinis, chanting these verses, hurting sentiments of Hindu people. Did he even once think how hurt we’ll all feel before putting out a song showcasing such provocative depictions? If you aren’t able to save what’s left of Hindu dharma, at least don’t disgrace it. That’s what we’re requesting. We are demanding your apology for the same. We demand the song be taken down. If necessary, we will even storm into his studio to make him hear us.”

Followed by her complaint, a case has been registered against DSP under IPC sections 153 (A) and 295 (A). In a statement given by Hyderabad Cyber Crime to India Today, ACP Prasad has revealed, “On November 2, we received a complaint from Lalit Kumar as well as Karate Kalyani, an actor, regarding the song by music director Devi Sri Prasad. We will be enquiring into this matter as it is a legal issue.”
