Rajkummar Rao on reprising Dharmendra's role in Chupke Chupke remake: It’s a big responsibility to step into his shoes

Well, 1975’s Chupke Chupke is one of the timeless cult classics, which are still one of the favourites of many cinema lovers. The comic caper featuring the ensemble of Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Jaya Bhaduri, Asrani, Om Prakash and many others is considered one most entertaining films of Bollywood. Now, this classic is all set to get a remake and the talented and versatile star Rajkummar Rao will step into Dharmendra’s shoes for the new one. Talking about reprising the role of Dr Parimal Tripathi in the remake, Rajkummar Rao told Pune Mirror, “It’s a big responsibility to step into his shoes. The scripting is underway now. We know that we can’t match Hrishida’s (Hrishikesh Mukherjee, director) standard, but we will try and put our best foot forward.”

The actor also revealed that he was offered Dostana 2 but was not able to do it because of other commitments. “Dates,” he sighs. “My next project, opposite Priyanka Chopra, will be shot during the same
time. But it’s a great script and Colin D’Cunha, the director, is my classmate from FTII,” he informed.

The actor is currently busy in promoting his upcoming venture Made In China, which also stars Mouni Roy, Boman Irani and Paresh Rawal in key roles. When asked to him about this off-beat film revolving around sexual problems and releasing on Diwali. He replied, “It has a U/A certification, the jokes are cracked by responsible actors who won’t do anything crass and the humour is situational, the kind you can watch with family.” The film will clash with the biggies like Housefull 4 and Saand Ki Aankh at the ticket windows. So, out of these three films? Which is your pick?
