Ludo director Anurag Basu believes Coronavirus will become the subject of many films

Anurag Basu’s new outing Ludo would have hit the theatres on 24th April, if not for the ongoing pandemic. Ludo is just one of the films that have been pushed indefinitely, until the situation regains normalcy. Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi and Ranveer Singh’s ’83 are also in the list.

Speaking to a leading daily, Basu said the film industry was probably going to churn plenty of stories, keeping the Covid-19 outbreak as a backdrop, and the entertainment world might be bifurcated as the pre-Corona era and post-Corona era.

Right now, OTT platforms stand as people’s go-to place for entertainment, and Basu believes this could bring a prolonged change in the viewing pattern and many might not prefer to head to the theatres when they open. He emphasises that producers need to leave their competitions behind and come together to draw an interesting release calendar that proves lucrative for the audience. He also believes that this entire crisis is going to transform many people’s views about life, and they might not be up for watching meaningless stuff anymore. This, in turn, is going to force filmmakers to create content that makes more sense.

Ludo, an anthology comprising of four stories, stars Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanya Malhotra among others
