Megan Thee Stallion testifies against Tory Lanez; says he offered $1 million to not ‘say anything’ after shooting

As Megan Thee Stallion, whose birth name is Megan Pete, took the stand in Los Angeles courtroom on Tuesday in an assault trial against Tory Lanez, she testified that the rapper had offered her a million to stay silent after the July 2020 incident.

Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, has been charged with assault with a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm and negligent discharge of a gun for shooting Meghan in the feet after a party at Kylie Jenner’s house. The 10-day trial began on Monday, December 12, but the legal matter dates back in February, when both Megan and Lanez took to social media to exchange allegations, with Megan sharing texts she claimed prove Lanez is guilty.

“I’m in shock. I’m scared. I hear the gun going off and I can’t believe he’s shooting at me,” Meghan said in the courtroom. According to her testimony, the group returned to the vehicle once again and as Meghan attempted to compress her wound with make-shift towels, she claimed he “started apologizing. He’s saying ‘please don’t say anything. I can’t go to jail. I already got caught with a gun before.'”

“He’s saying, ‘Please don’t say anything. I’ll give y’all a million dollars. I can’t go to jail. I already got caught with a gun before,’” she said, according to Insider report. Under questioning from Deputy District Attorney Kathy Ta, Megan told the jury in the Los Angeles courtroom that she’d only known Lanez for a short period of time before the incident in July 2020, having only met him that same year.

On the night of the incident, Megan said that during an argument, he also made “disrespectful” comments about her career. As per the outlet, she recalled Lanez yelling “Dance, bitch!” prompting her to look over her shoulder to the image of Lanez holding a gun in his hand with his head, arm, and part of his torso outside of the car. She said he began shooting at her feet immediately after.

“I wish he would have just shot and killed me if I would have known I would go through this torture,” Megan told the court on Tuesday. “I’ve been made to be the villain. He’s the villain.” If convicted as charged, Lanez faces more than 22 years in prison and deportation, being a Canadian citizen.
