Priyanka Chopra roots for Chhello Show team; calls India’s official Oscar entry an “incredible” film

Ahead of the 95th Academy Awards, global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas rooted for Chhello Show, India’s official entry for the Oscars. For the unversed, Priyanka hosted a special screening of the Gujarati-language film in LA at Isha Ambani Piramal’s residence followed by a dinner reception. Giving a sneak peek into her time with the makers of the film and lead actor Bhavin Rabari, PeeCee wrote an appreciation post for them.

In the photos, the Desi Girl can be seen sharing a hearty laugh with attendees present at the screening. Meanwhile, in the caption, she talked about her excitement and pride in the films being made in the country. Her short note read, “The least I can do is always support the industry that taught me all I know about my job. So proud of the amazing movies that come out of Indian cinema. ‘Chhello Show’ being one of the special ones. Good luck team! Go get ‘em,” followed by a red-heart emoticon.

The actress-turned-entrepreneur further added, “P.S. Chhello Show (Last Film Show) – a regional language movie (Gujarati) which has been selected as India’s Official Entry to the Best International Feature Film category at the 95th Academy Awards. Written and directed by Pan Nalin, this incredible film revolves a 9 year old’s @iambhavinrabari fascination with Cinema.”

Concluding her post, the Exotic singer wrote, “P.P.S. Thank you @_iiishmagish for lending the team your LA home for the screening!” Reacting to the post, Pan Nalin, director of Chhello Show, commented, “Now we too can be beautiful, strong, fearless and believe in our selves when we have support of someone who is beautiful, strong and fearless – but so generous. #BeKindAndDoEpicShit.”

Speaking of the special screening of the film, director Pan Nalin and producers Siddharth Roy Kapur and Dheer Momaya said in a joint statement, “Priyanka is a global icon, a tremendously talented actor and most of all, a very generous person. We are very moved that she extended her support to Last Film Show by hosting this screening. The team was most thrilled by how much she loved the film, especially the performances of the child actors.”
