It has been more than two decades since Hera Pheri was released. The situational comedy, starring Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, turned out to be a hit, and it didn’t stop there. Six years later, the makers once again entertained the audience with its second instalment, Phir Hera Pheri. Since then, moviegoers have been eagerly waiting for Shyam, Raju and Babu Bhaiya to return. While a lot of speculation regarding its casting is making rounds on the internet, filmmaker Raaj Shaandilyaa has confirmed that he is approached to direct.
While speaking to Pinkvilla, Raaj Shaandilyaa made the above-mentioned revelation. To confirm the same, Raaj said, “Yes it’s true. Though I’ll take the decision once I finish with Dream Girl 2.” He further added, “I’ll get officially involved in the scripting of the film as well, but after I am done with my ongoing commitment. Discussions keep happening but things will roll after we sign the contract and come on the same page.”
As the director continued the conversation with the portal, he spoke about Dream Girl 2 and asserted, “Ananya has never played a role like this in the past, and it’s looking really new onscreen. We all got along really well on the set, and have shot for Dream Girl 2 in Agra and in Mumbai.” He also informed that his aim was to bring a fresh pair on screen. He mentioned that Ayushmann has worked with many actresses in the past, but this pairing hasn’t been explored earlier.
For the unversed, Hera Pheri 3 made headlines in December 2022 after Akshay Kumar officially announced that he will not be a part of the third instalment. Breaking his silence, he said, “Hera Pheri has been a part of me. A lot of people have memories and even I have good memories of it. But I feel sad that we haven’t made the third part for so many years. The film was offered to me but I was not satisfied with the screenplay and the script. I was not happy with it,” at the HT Leadership Summit.
