After taking a sabbatical from direction for three years, reports have it that A R Murugadoss is planning on returning to filmmaking. It seems that the director is keen on taking ahead the franchise of one of his biggest blockbusters Ghajini. From what we hear, he has been planning on making a Tamil sequel to the original which featured Suriya in the lead. Although there has been no confirmation from either of the party, it will be interesting to see what the sequel to this action thriller has in store for the audience.
Readers would be aware that Ghajini was also remade in Hindi by the same name with Aamir Khan playing the lead along with Asin reprising her role as Kalpana in both versions. The role of Jiah Khan was essayed by Nayanthara in the Tamil version that released in 2005. If Ghajini 2 materializes, it will be the third project of Suriya and A R Murugadoss after Ghajini (1) and 7aam Arivu that released in 2011. While it is being said that Ghajini sequel too will feature Suriya in the lead, it also remains to be seen if Ghajini 2 will be a new story or will it be taking forward the story of Mr. Sanjay Ramaswamy. However, A R Murugadoss is yet to announce details about his next directorial.
For the uninitiated, Ghajini portrayed the story of a mobile phone owner who meets a happy-go-lucky but struggling actress with a golden heart. As he falls for her and they decide to plan their future, a dangerous situation leads him to suffer severe injuries and he also becomes a short-term memory loss patient. A fun but hardworking medical student befriends him to understand more about his situation.
