Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni to star in Sony Adaptation of Colleen Hoover novel It Ends With Us

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have been roped in to headline the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel ‘It Ends With Us’. Besides starring, Baldoni is also set to direct with Christy Hall adapting the script.

As noted by Variety‘It Ends With Us’ ended 2022 as the top-selling print book and has been on the New York Times’ bestseller list for over 90 weeks. Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios have been working closely with Hoover as a consultant on the film. The novel follows small-town girl Lily, who moves to Boston to start her own business.

According to the book’s synopsis, It Ends With Us “follows a girl named Lily who has just moved and is ready to start her life after college. Lily then meets a guy named Ryle and she falls for him. As she is developing feelings for Ryle, Atlas, her first love, reappears and challenges the relationship between Lily and Ryle.”

Alex Saks is attached to produce for Saks Picture Company, along with Jamey Heath under the banner Wayfarer Studios. Lively and Hoover are also attached to executive produce along with Steve Sarowitz, Andrew Calof and Baldoni on behalf of Wayfarer. Hall is also producing.

Meanwhile, Lively is set to reprise her character in the upcoming sequel A Simple Favor alongside Anna Kendrick, and Paul Feig retuning to direct. She will also make her feature directorial debut with the adaptation of the Bryan Lee O’Malley graphic novel Seconds.

On the other hand, Baldoni has now been taking the director’s chair, helming features like Clouds and Five Feet Apart. The Jane The Virgin star also turned author to his inaugural book Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity in 2021 and most recently Boys Will Be Human, a New York Times bestseller.
