South Korean rookie female group NewJeans has another feat in album sales with its latest EP OMG after its breakout debut EP New Jeans last year. According to Korea JoongAng Daily, the group sold a total of 701,241 copies of “OMG” between January 2 and 8, of which 580,000 were sold in just two days of release, based on the album sales tracker Hanteo Chart.
Last year in August, NewJeans became the best-selling debut female group based on first-week album sales. The group sold over 310,000 copies of its album New Jeans. OMG also topped the Japanese Oricon’s Daily Single Ranking chart on January 6.
As per the report, with OMG, the group has become the youngest female group to make it on the top five best first-week sales. The quintet has taken home four Rookie of the Year awards so far.
The awards are namely: the 2022 The Fact Music Awards, the Melon Music Awards (MMA) 2022, 2022 Asia Artist Awards and the 37th Golden Disc Awards with TikTok.
