BREAKING: CBFC mutes ‘F**k’, ‘L***e’, ‘Kutiya’ in Liger; spares the intimate and action scenes

Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday starrer Liger is all set to release in cinemas on August 25 and there’s excitement for it among audiences. The trailer has received a fine response and has been appreciated for the way it has been cut. Vijay’s dashing looks and acting talent have a huge following and hence, it is expected that it can fetch a good opening, despite the current box office scenario.

It has now come to light that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has passed the film with a U/A certificate and without any visual cut. This means the intimate and action scenes have remained untouched. However, the CBFC asked for five audio cuts or modifications. The dialogue ‘Woh teri chaatata hai ya tu uski chaatega’ has been replaced ‘Legend tera chamcha hai ya tu uska chamcha hai’. Then the words ‘Cycle thoko‘ were muted. Meanwhile, the words ‘F*****g’, ‘Mother f****r’, ‘F**k’ were muted at six places, though ‘F**k’ has been allowed in some places. Lastly, ‘Kutiya‘ and ‘L***e‘ were muted.

Though no visual edit was asked by the CBFC members, in one scene, they asked for the middle finger gesture to be blurred.

Lastly, the makers mentioned the full name of the film, Liger Saala Crossbred, in the beginning slate in Hindi, as per the new rules. Also, the Hindi translation of a quote from an award-winning British novelist, David Mitchell, was asked to be incorporated into the opening slate.

Since no scenes were cut or reduced, the duration of Liger remained unchanged after certification. The run time is 140 minutes, that is, 2 hours and 20 minutes. The CBFC handed the censor certificate to the makers on August 17. It is co-produced by Karan Johar and directed by Puri Jagannadh. Liger tells the story of a fighter and also features a cameo by former American boxer, Mike Tyson.
