Hugh Grant opens up about his confusing Glass Onion cameo – “I don’t really know why they wanted to do it”

Hugh Grant admitted that he was a little confused by his small cameo in Daniel Craig starrer comedy-mystery Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. “It is true, I’m married to James Bond,” Grant said in an interview with Collider. “It’s the tiniest little moment. I don’t really know why they wanted to do it but anyway, I thought Knives Out was brilliant, and so yeah, I thought why not? I turn up for a few hours…”

As the outlet notes, in the new sequel, Grant appears briefly as the love interest of Craig’s detective Benoit Blanc, who answers the door to their apartment when Miles Bron’s (Ed Norton) puzzle was delivered. Director Rian Johnson previously confirmed in October that the film’s detective is gay and we’d see him living with another man in the latest sequel.

With regards to who would play the lover for the detective, Johnson said at the time, “And there’s nobody in the world I can imagine in bringing me more joy for Benoit Blanc to be with.” Craig also added, “No spoilers [but] who wouldn’t want to live with that person?”

Meanwhile, Grunt will next star in fantasy adventure Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves starring alongside Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justic Smith and Sophia Lillis. The film will be released on March 31, 2023

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is currently streaming on Netflix.
