Ram Setu records lower advance booking than Samrat Prithviraj and Shamshera; to depend heavily on spot bookings

Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu has recorded a low response in advance booking despite releasing on the biggest day of the year for film business. Advance booking of this action-adventure is lower than this year’s underperformers like Samrat Prithviraj, Shamshera, Vikram Vedha and Laal Singh Chaddha. In-fact, Ram Setu advances are almost at par with Raksha Bandhan which was a much smaller film featuring Akshay in lead.

The opening day biz of Ram Setu will strongly depend on the spot bookings as audiences are expected to step out on the holiday. Basically, the film will get an audience on the day of release due to the holiday factor and then the hope will be on this on-the-spot audience to like the film, as the only way for Ram Setu to sustain and survive is going to be the audience word of mouth.

In the three national chains, Ram Setu has sold around 39,000 tickets which is lower than Prithviraj (41,000), Shamshera (46,000), Vikram Vedha (60,000) and Laal Singh Chaddha (63,000). On the pan India level too, Ram Setu has sold less than 1 lakh tickets, and this is a shocker for a film releasing in the festive season of Diwali.

The overall advance of Ram Setu for the opening day is around Rs. 1.50 crore nett, which can be said as good as negligible. With this advance, a start under Rs. 10 crores would have happened for Ram Setu, and it’s the holiday factor that will push the film towards face saving results. The industry is optimistic on a Rs. 15 crore start and it’s going to be a wait-and-watch game now.
