Servant star Rupert Grint says people wanted him and his Harry Potter co-stars to go off the rails: ‘That’s always been something to fight against’

Hollywood star Rupert Grint is widely known for playing the fan-favorite character of Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise. The actor received global fame for portraying the character in the film adaptations of the Harry Potter book series. The actor recently took a trip down memory lane, recalling his Harry Potter filming days.

During a recent conversation with Bustle, Grint revealed how there were expectations that he and his Potter co-stars would follow the child star stereotype. “I’ve always felt there was this expectation for us to go off the rails, follow the child star stereotype,” Grint said. “That’s always been something to fight against.”

He also said that media would pit him against his Harry Potter co-stars. He said, “‘Who’s doing what?’; people contrasting our careers. We’re all completely different and going along different paths.”

While Grint does limited projects, he is now a father to a 3-year-old daughter. He hasn’t picked a project after Servant and Knock at the Cabin. “I’m enjoying being a dad, doing dad things,” he says, smiling with all his teeth. He might even — plot twist — take a break from those broken, damaged characters. “I like the idea of doing something light next — like a Christmas movie.” He laughed adding, “I’m happy with where I’ve ended up.”

Meanwhile, Rupert Grint is gearing up for his apocalyptic psychological horror Knock at the Cabin directed by M. Night ShyamalanHe is also is starring in another M. Night Shyamalan-helmed project i.e., the Apple TV+ series Servant.
