Kangana Ranaut reveals Emergency has a 10-minute song for interval block; calls it a “musical drama”

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut recently returned to the sets of her upcoming film Emergency in Mumbai. Ever since its inception, the film has managed to create a buzz, especially for its subject. For the unversed, as the title suggests, the film is based on the 1975 Indian Emergency. While the team is still shooting for its last leg in Mumbai, the actress has revealed that it will be a musical drama while adding that it will have 5 songs.

On Saturday, the Queen actress took to the story section of her verified Instagram handle and shared a BTS, which featured a couple of crew members of the film including choreographer Kruti Mahesh. Captioning the story, Ranaut wrote, “Choreographer on set today….. Director can take it easy ha ha… by the way we have 5 songs in #emergency it’s a musical drama (sic).”

The Panga actress further added, “I don’t know why people don’t expect songs in Emergency…. I love music. I might have just the longest song ever above 10 mins…. For interval block… And great music @gvprakash.” She also tagged choreographer Kruti Mahesh.

Speaking of the forthcoming film, Kangana is not only headlining the project but also donning the hat of the director. It will be her second directorial after her 2019 release Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. She will be seen essaying the role of former Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. The ensemble star cast of the film also features Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, and Mahima Chaudhary, among others.

At the time of its teaser release in July 2022, the actor-turned-director had said, “Emergency reflects one of the most important periods in Indian political history, which changed the way we view power and that’s why I decided to tell this story.”
