Lee Seung Gi makes thoughtful donation of over Rs 1.99 crores to Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology

South Korean singer-actor Lee Seung Gi made a thoughtful donation of 300 million won (over Rs 1.99 crores) to Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology using his unpaid music earnings. According to Korean tabloid Soompi, on February 3, Lee Seung Gi will also attend the KAIST Development Fund Agreement Ceremony at the institute’s Dogok campus. A representative of KAIST announced, “It’s true that Lee Seung Gi donated 300 million won [approximately $245,200] to KAIST.”

The recent donation marks Lee Seung Gi’s third one using his unpaid earnings. In November 2022, it was revealed that Lee Seung Gi’s longtime agency Hook Entertainment had been withholding his digital music profits made from his music career for over 18 years. The singer sent a certification of contents to his then-agency asking for transparent disclosure of his earnings.

While Hook Entertainment initially denied the allegations, the CEO of the agency ultimately apologized after Lee Seung Gi’s legal representative released an additional statement refuting Hook Entertainment’s claims. In December, the agency claimed that the company had now paid Lee Seung Gi what he was owed and Lee Seung Gi took to Instagram to share a lengthy note addressing the issue and promised to donate all the earnings.

Since then, Lee Seung Gi donated 2 billion won (over Rs 13.3 crores) to the Seoul National University Children’s Hospital at the end of 2022, followed by another donation of his birthday in January, when he gave the Korean Red Cross 550 million won (over Rs 3.66 crores).

At the end of 2022, Lee Seung Gi donated 2 billion won (approximately $1.6 million) to the Seoul National University Children’s Hospital. He followed up with another donation for his birthday in January, where he gave the Korean Red Cross 550 million won (approximately $442,500).
