Marvel Entertainment, on Wednesday, announced a Disney+ documentary on the legendary comic book writer and editor Stan Lee that will bow out in 2023. The studio announced the news sharing a teaser for the project, titled Stan Lee, on what would have been the famous writer’s 100th birthday. “100 years of dreaming. 100 years of creating. 100 years of Stan Lee,” the caption of the teaser post read.
The newly released video features glimpses of some of Stan Lee’s cameo roles in cinema. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Lee died in November 2018 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at the age of 95. “Stan Lee was as extraordinary as the characters he created,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a statement following his death.
“A superhero in his own right to Marvel fans around the world, Stan had the power to inspire, to entertain and to connect. The scale of his imagination was only exceeded by the size of his heart.” Marvel plans to celebrate the late producer’s legacy as the co-creator of Mavel’s many iconic characters.
Working alongside fellow writer-artists like Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, Lee is best known for creating fan-favorite characters like Spider-Man, the Hulk, Iron Man, the X-Men, Thor, Black Panther and more.
